THE NIAGARA FALLS WEED AND SEED PROGRAM:
HELPING TO MAKE THE STREETS SAFER.
The Niagara Falls Police have a substation located at 2616 Highland Avenue manned by Officers Dan Bird and Shawn Bosi. The Niagara Falls Police Department, with the help of the Niagara Falls Weed and Seed Program has been making a dynamic impact in the Weed and Seed Community. Below is a list of accomplishments.
- Numerous Drug arrests
-Investigate narcotic search warrants
-presence at Niagara Falls High School Sporting Events
-Attend block club and civic Police Academy
-Implement a Citizen Police Academy
-Implement a Youth Police Academy
Weed and Seed has also enabled the NFPD to be available for Gang Presentations to any organization interested in having onel.
Weed and Seed has allowed officers to devote more time to ommunity policing and patrol efforts. |

What is Weed and Seed? Weed and Seed is a strategy to reclaim and rejuvenate embattled neighborhoods and communities. Weed and Seed uses a neighborhood focused two part strategy to control crime and provide social and economic support to communities where high crime and social ills are prevalent.. The Weed portion of the program is a multi agency approach by linking and integrating Federal, State and Local law enforcement agencies to combat violent crime, drug use and gang activity in high crime neighborhoods. The goal is to weed out crime from targeted neighborhoods and then to seed the targeted sites with a wide range of crime and drug prevention programs along with community involvement in combating the problems afflicting the targeted sites.
