MISSION STATEMENT

The Mission of the Niagara Falls Police Department is to work in partnership with the community to protect life and property, solve neighborhood problems and enhance the quality of life in the City of Niagara Falls while protecting the rights of all and applying the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and accountability.

STRATEGIC GOALS

Focus Departmental Resources on the detection and apprehension of Criminals, their prosecution and control.This will also be accomplished with Multi-jurisdictional Task Forces and intra-agency cooperation.

Manage traffic flow on the City streets in order to reduce motor vehicle accidents and prevent traffic congestion at and near the international ridges. The Traffic Division and Patrol Divisions shall respond to specific Community needs.
Educate citizens in crime prevention techniques and services. This shall include information distribution through block clubs, community services unit and citizens police academy, to increase an awareness and understanding of law enforcement. The Juvenile Officers provide an education program for youth interested in law enforcement through the Law Enforcement Exploring Program. Youth aid Officers also provide education services to youth for drug and violence prevention through programs such as D.A.R.E.
Work in partnership with community members through block clubs and citizens advisory committees to resolve crime related problems and quality of life issues in neighborhoods. This shall be accomplished by the strategic deployment of Patrol and Roving Anti-Crime (RAC) Officers into targeted areas. These areas will be identified through community feedback, Comm Stat analysis and officer input.
Provide quality investigate services to our customers resulting in fair, thorough and honest treatment of all people.
Continue to improve, with concern and compassion the quality of service delivered to victims and witnesses of crimes with a quality management culture in the department and a commitment to provide exceptional customer service.
Implement an ongoing strategic planning process to assist the department in managing the future, through coordinated programs and activities with other City Departments, law enforcement and criminal justice agencies and input from community forums.

I would like to welcome you to the Niagara Falls Police Department web site. It is designed to provide you with information on the Department's Divisions and Units and our many community programs. The Niagara Falls Police Department currently has 146 sworn officers and 30 civilians, and handles approximately 65,000 calls for service annually.

The Niagara Falls Police Department is a strong proponent of the principals of community policing. We have a solid partnership with the community and work to build stronger neighborhoods. The Niagara Falls Police Department is committed to strengthening the crucial bonds of cooperation and support with our citizens, both through existing programs and through the initiation of new ones. We are also cognizant of addressing quality of life issues in our community while maintaining respect for individual rights and dignity.

Niagara Falls is world renowned as a major tourist destination. It is also home to the Seneca Niagara Casino. The Niagara Falls Police Department is therefore committed to keeping the City safe for not only our residents but also the millions of people who visit here each year.
